The rules, as played

Reversi (Othello) is played on an 8×8 board. Black moves first; a legal move must outflank at least one row of the opponent's discs between the disc just placed and one of your own, then flip that whole row to your colour — horizontally, vertically, diagonally, in several directions at once.

The rule that surprises newcomers: no legal move means you pass. In this game, when a side has no move, the screen clearly announces the pass and play continues — never a dead end. The game ends when neither side can move or the board fills; most discs wins, and 32–32 is a draw.
